LAHORE: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has summoned Professor Mumtaz Anwar Chaudhry, former acting vice-chancellor Jhang University, on Tuesday over allegations of acquiring the position through unfair means.

In a summons notice, the ACE says it is investigating the allegation that Mr Chaudhry obtained the acting vice-chancellorship of the university by using bribes and unfair methods.

Presently, Mr Chaudhry is the dean of faculty at the Institute of Business Administration, Punjab University.

“If he fails to appear, ex-parte proceedings will be initiated against him,” the notice says.

Also, the ACE is probing Mr Chaudhry’s ‘fake certificate’ from a UK university that he had presented when applying for positions of assistant, associate, or professor at the Punjab University.

In a related development, the ACE has summoned the ex-principal secretary to the chief minister, Muhammad Khan Bhatti, on Tuesday for taking bribe from Chaudhry.

Mr Bhatti is currently in the custody of the National Accountability Bureau in another corruption case.
