PESHAWAR: The district administration has issued detention orders of 11 Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement activists under Section 3 of Maintenance of Public Order for allegedly instigating public against the government policies and the armed forces of Pakistan.

The detention orders said the SSP operations had written a letter to the deputy commissioner, stating that the Gulberg police station SHO had provided a list of PTM activists, who had gathered at the Khyber Super Market on August 29 and incited people against the Pakistan Army and other agencies.

The list included Dr Mushtaq, Ibrahim Kamil, Bilal Mohammad, Mohammad Bilal, Jafnan Wazir, Shad Mohammad, Mohammad Wali Achakzai, Fawad Tarakzai, Ghulam Hadi, Hazrat Nawaz and Tahir Barki.

The letter informed the district administration that the individuals on the list were a great risk to the stability, tranquility and maintenance of peace in the area as they had violated the government writ, creating unrest among the general public.

“The activities of the said individuals are against the law and there is apprehension that they may continue their activities in future,” the detention orders issued by the deputy commissioner said, adding the administration considered the activities prejudicial to public safety and might create law and order situation in the district.

The deputy commissioner’s order said the individuals might be detained and confined in Central Jail Mardan for a period of 30 days from the date of arrest.
