PESHAWAR Feb 4: Gandhara University is planning to set up a research laboratory this year for post-graduate studies in basic medical sciences, a university official said on Saturday.

The director for planning and development at Gandhara University, Dr Muhammad Tariq Khan, told the Associated Press of Pakistan that infrastructure was being developed to meet the requirements necessary for setting up a fully equipped research lab.

In reply to a question, he said that Naseer Teaching Hospital, a constituent of the varsity, was fully equipped with all types of diagnostic and latest technology and qualified consultants.

Dr Tariq said the management had also decided to start post-graduate training programme in dental studies after proper approval from the concerned regulatory authority, ie, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan in Karachi.

In reply to a question, he said constituents of Gandhara University were fully functional and providing quality education in their respective fields. —APP
