LARKANA: The death toll from consumption of toxic lassi in Ghous Bakhsh Brohi village a day before rose to four on Thursday with the death of two more women of the same family.

Earlier on Wednesday, Seema, 13, and Bilqees, 22; daughters of Naseer Mohammad Brohi had died and late in the night his third daughter Momina Brohi and Hajira Brohi wife of his brother Aziz Brohi breathed their last at the Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH) while three members of the family were still under treatment.

Eight members of Naseer Mohammad’s family had fallen unconscious after consuming lassi in the breakfast which had probably turned poisonous overnight for unknown reasons.

Meanwhile, Director General of Health Services Sindh took notice of the incident and directed Qambar-Shahdadkot District Health Officer to visit the affected family in the village and collect samples of the victims to ascertain the cause of the deaths.

Qambar-Shahdadkot deputy commissioner Imdad Abro attended funeral of the victims in the village and offered condolence to the bereaved family.
