LARKANA: Two sisters died and six members of their family were hospitalised in precarious condition when they fell unconscious after consuming poisonous lassi in breakfast in Ghous Bakhsh Brohi village, 25 kilometer from here on Wednesday.

Naseer Mohammad Brohi, head of the family, told journalists at the Chandka Medical College Hospital that his wife Jannat Khatoon, 50; daughters Seema, 13, and Bilqees, 22; his son Ghous Bakhsh, 7, and other relatives Rubina Khatoon, 35; Momina, 10; Hafeez-ur-Rehman, 22, Zuhaib and an unidentified victim were rushed to the nearest Mirokhan taluka hospital from where they were shifted to CMCH as their condition continued to deteriorate. The sisters Seema and Bilqees died while the condition of Ghous Bakhsh was stated to be critical, he said.

He said the family had taken lassi in the breakfast, which had perhaps turned stale and become injurious.

He alleged that his daughters had died due to inadequate facilities at the government hospital.

Paramedics at the emergency said that all the victims were brought in very critical condition. The sisters had died while others were rescued and were now recovering, they said.
