TAXILA: A man shot his elder sister dead on Wednesday in a far-flung Marri Kanjoor village of district Attock in the limits of Injra police station.

Police sources said Muhammad Faisal wanted to get married but was facing hindrance due to his elder sister’s refusal to get married as he was being pressurised by his family to get his sister married first before thinking of his own.

To pave the way for his marriage, the sources alleged, he decided to shoot his sister dead.

The police reached the location and arrested the accused after registering a case against him. Separately, a woman was knocked to death by a speedy dumper on GT Road in the limits of Wah Saddar police station on Wednesday.

According to polices, Shehnaz Bibi and her husband Zaheer Ahmed were going to Taxila in a rickshaw for shopping when a speedy dumper recklessly driven by an unknown driver knocked the rickshaw down. The dumper driver fled with the vehicle successfully.

The woman was critically injured and was shifted to Wah general hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
