KARACHI: Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab on Tuesday said that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) had started digitizing land records, which had been a major problem in the city.

He said this while speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the land management and digital archive system.

He said that the land department challan would be issued with a QR code that would bring transparency in the overall process as the challan amount would be directly credited to the accounts of the KMC.

The mayor said that the digitization would prevent fake entries.

He said that there were 1,874 maps of the city and 1,906 other documents in the records of the KMC land department, which would be uploaded to the KMC website.

He said that the land management system introduced in KMC was based on the Graphics Information System (GIS), which could be further expanded in the future.
