LAKKI MARWAT: Two police constables, who were martyred in a terrorist attack in Darra Pezu town on Monday, were laid to rest with full official honour at the graveyards in their native villages on Tuesday.

The funeral prayers of the deceased policemen including Bashir Rehman and Saif Ali were offered at the police lines in district headquarters Tajazai. Deputy Commissioner Abdul Hadi, DPO Tariq Habib, civil and military officials, relatives and people from different walks of life attended their funerals.

Mr Habib also met relatives of the martyred policemen and assured them that the perpetrators of the attack would be brought to justice soon. He also visited the district headquarters hospital to enquire after the injured policemen.

RPO Qasim Ali Khan inspected the venue of the attack in Pezu town. Healso visited the residences of the martyred policemen and shared condolences with their family members.

Meanwhile, a motorcyclist was killed and the pillion rider suffered injuries in an accident on the Bannu-DI Khan section of the Indus Highway near Shahbazkhel area here on Monday.

A Rescue 1122 official identified the deceased as Rizwanullah of Darra Pezu and said the body along with injured Abdul Sattar, a resident of Daulatkhel, was shifted to the district headquarters hospital in Tajazai.

Meanwhile, additional assistant commissioner Shamsuzzaman disposed of expired food items and drinks seized in Bannu area on Monday.

Action was taken on people’s complaints.

The AAC also checked roti price and weight and fined nanbais for profiteering.

He also fined shopkeepers for selling expired food items and warned traders not to do so again.
