Published February 5, 2006

KARACHI, Feb 4: Ports and Shipping Minister Senator Babar Khan Ghouri on Saturday chaired a high-level meeting to workout modalities for the implementation of prime minister’s directives with regard to ports and shipping sectors.

Besides the heads of Karachi and Qasim ports, the meeting was also attended by Ports and Shipping Secretary Zia-ur-Rehman and Ports and Shipping Director General Captain Anwar Shah.

The meeting stressed that modalities should be worked out before taking any decision with regard to a reduction in port and wet charges so that rationale was maintained and no hasty step was taken.

The minister also review and revisited the board of governors of all departments working under his ministry. The meeting was a sort of follow-up of the prime minister’s directives with regard to a reduction in port charges, sources told Dawn.
