PST gives Rs22m to sports federations

ISLAMABAD, Feb 3: The Pakistan Sports Trust (PST) on Friday gave away Rs 22 million in grants to as many as 25 national federations, among them hockey and squash.

Lt. Gen (Retd) Arif Hasan, who heads the PST presented the cheques to the officials of the federations and said that subject to performance, more cash would be doled out.

The handing over ceremony took place at the Pakistan Sports Complex and officials announced that a total sum of Rs 76.5 million had been

set aside for distribution this year.

The PST last year provided sporting equipment worth Rs 7.7 million to several federations and plans to donate more of it amounting to Rs 15.20 million in the next few months.

The federations benefiting Friday were athletics, boxing, cycling, rifle shooting, skiing, rowing, sailing, swimming, badminton, squash, tennis, table tennis, weightlifting, wrestling, judo, karate, taekwondo, wushu, gymnastics, golf, hockey, kabaddi, volleyball, billiards & snooker and equestrian.
