Double success for PAF

Published February 3, 2006

LAHORE, Feb 2: Half-goal handicap proved vital in Pakistan Air Force’s (PAF) victories in two matches of two-chukker each in the Sahir Low Goal Polo Cup on Thursday.

A decisive goal by Manzoor and a hat trick by Tauheed was the Deciding factor in PAF’s win against Technimen 4 1/2-4.

Tauheed gave PAF a flying start 3 1/2-1 scoring a hat trick in the first chukker.

Two-goal Azhar Ali scored first for Technimen, converted a 40- yard penalty hit.

But Tauheed scored three goals in a row to give a clear lead in the first chukker.

In the second chukker, Technimen struck thrice —two by Afzal Mahr and one by Shahzad Aziz to gain a slender 4-3 1/2 lead, before Manzoor scored the winner.

Two goals by Tauheed also enabled PAF to beat Remington 2 1-2- 2. For the losers, Atif Tiwana scored two goals.—By Our Sports Correspondent
