ISLAMABAD, Feb 2: The Central Executive Committee of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League (PML) is meeting here on Friday to discuss the overall political situation in the country, it is learnt.

PML president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain will chair the meeting which is expected to be attended among others by Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.

Party sources said that the meeting would also discuss the political scenario emerging after statements by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif soon after his arrival in London from Jeddah.

The party will discuss the protest campaign launched by the Pakistan People’s Party in Punjab against what the PPP called the political victimisation of its leader Benazir Bhutto.

The PML will also ponder over the list of party aspirants for the Feb 6 Senate elections.

Sources said that the PML, as a policy, would like to continue supporting the political moves under supervision of President Gen Pervez Musharraf and take measures to ward off any threat from the two exiled former prime ministers.
