Court record set ablaze

OKARA, Feb 1: Unidentified outlaws on Thursday night set ablaze the judicial record of a civil judge at the district courts complex.

The outlaws broke open the lock of the court of civil judge Iftikhar Ahmed and put the judicial record on fire in his retiring room.

SSP Capt Muhammad Amin (retired) rushed to the spot and got a case registered against the unidentified lawbreakers.

KILLED: An armyman was killed on Thursday night in a road accident near Sharaqpur Flour Mills, some three kilometres from here.

A speeding car (LXD-9386) crashed into a truck (MUB-1613) coming from the opposite side on the GT Road. Car driver Muhammad Rafique suffered serious injuries and died on the way to a local hospital. Other car occupants — captain Mubarak, Nike Muhammad Iqbal and subedar major Abdul Rashid sustained wounds.

Saddar police have registered a case against the absconding truck driver.

ELECTION: Election of the District Hockey Association was held on Friday under the supervision of district coordination officer Khalid Masood.

Former Olympian Gulraiz Akhtar represented the Hockey Federation of Pakistan on the occasion. Mehr Muhammad Hassan was elected president, Rao Zulfiqar Ali vice-president, Muhammad Aslam secretary and Chaudhry Javaid finance secretary.
