RAWALPINDI: Three people drowned in different nullahs of the garrison city while the fourth one was rescued during heavy rain on Monday, police and rescue services said.

Asad Ali, 26, was going home on his motorcycle in Khayaban-i-Sir Syed Sector II when he fell into a nullah while crossing the bridge and was swept away. Rescue 1122 recovered his body on Tuesday morning.

The second incident happened in Razzaq Town New Chakra where a woman Riffat Kanwal, 45, drowned after she slipped into Leh Nullah. However, she was rescued by the residents of the area and sent home where she died later on, the rescue services said.

A girl drowned in a nullah on Boring Road during rain, rescue services said, adding that efforts were underway to recover her.

In another incident, a child drowned in a nullah on Chakri Road. However, the child was recovered alive by the locals before the Rescue 1122 arrived.
