KARACHI: Sindh police chief Ghulam Nabi Memon on Saturday ordered a crackdown on elements involved in supply of drugs to educational institutes.

Chairing a meeting at his office, the inspector general of police (IGP) made it clear that a strict departmental and legal action would be taken against those police officers who failed to curb the drug menace on campuses.

He expressed the resolve to rid all educational institutes of the menace of drugs in the metropolis.

The head of Special Branch gave a detailed briefing and presented a list of drug dealers.

The IGP said that action should be ensured against all drug dealers at the provincial level in accordance with the list of prepared by Special Branch.

He said that the district police would also work alongside Special Branch to eliminate drugs, gutka and mawa in the second phase.

He praised the efforts of a task force formed against the menace of gutka and mawa and said that even the judiciary and the provincial government acknowledged its work.

Karachi police chief, Additional inspector general of police, DIGs and other senior officials attended the meeting.
