CHINIOT: The principal of a private school was arrested for his alleged involvement in immoral activities with a minor student.

The Bhowana police arrested the suspect on the complaint of the student’s father.

In his complaint, the man said his six-year-old daughter is a student of the school. He alleged the principal tried to molest her in his office, but she raised an alarm and he was able to rescue her.

The police have registered a case against the principal under sections 377 and 342 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

A union representing private school owners, however, protested the case and demanded a fair probe into the issue.

SUSPENDED: A constable has been suspended from service for torturing a man who visited the city police station to lodge an FIR for his stolen driving licence.

Constable Amir was seen in a video torturing Adnan Riaz with kicks and punches.

Riaz said he was wearing shorts because of the hot weather, and that there was no dress code for visitors to the police station to lodge complaints. This enraged the constable, who dragged Riaz to the lockup and tortured him.

Riaz later lodged a complaint with the SHO, who apologised and promised to take action against the constable. However, when no action was taken, Riaz made the video of the incident viral on social media.

District Police Officer Abdullah Ahmad took notice of the video and suspended the constable. He also ordered an inquiry into the matter.

GANG BUSTED: The police in Chiniot busted 14 dacoit gangs and arrested 60 criminals.

The police also recovered stolen goods worth Rs11.5 million. The police conducted a series of coordinated operations against the criminals, combing their hideout villages.

The arrested criminals have a long history of criminal activities, including dacoity, robbery, theft and smuggling.
