PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa caretaker cabinet has approved a proposal for the solarisation of 28,000 agricultural tubewells across the province at the cost of Rs30 billion.

The federal government will share the project’s cost, officials told the cabinet during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohammad Azam Khan and attended by ministers and administrative secretaries here, according to an official statement issued here on Thursday.

The cabinet also approved the transfer of a prisoner from the Peshawar Central Prison to a Rawalpindi jail and authorised the home secretary to approve such transfers in future.

It approved the transfer of 40 kanals of land adjacent to the Hangu police lines to the home department for the construction of the residential complex for police.

Revised PC-I for de-radicalisation centres also approved

The cabinet also gave approval to the proposed establishment of the project management unit for the Safe City Project Peshawar at the enhanced cost of Rs262.56 million for the financial year 2023-24.

It okayed the revised PC-I for de-radicalisation and rehabilitation centres in the terrorism-affected tribal districts.

The cabinet approved the handing over of the political agent of the Public School, Kalaya, Orakzai tribal district, to the Frontier Constabulary and the extension of the KP Educational and Training Institutions Ordinance, 1971, to the Bacha Khan Model School, Pabbi, Nowshera.

It, on the recommendations of the relevant department, also approved the use of Rs332 million revenue from the Dubai Expo by the KP Board of Investment and Trade for necessary expenditure.

The cabinet approved the formation of a committee headed by special assistant Salma Begum to distribute Zakat funds in the province in the absence of the provincial Zakat Ushur Council.

It approved payment of compensation to the Afghan victims of the recent landslides on the Pak-Afghan Road near Torkham at the rate of Rs0.5 million to the injured and Rs1 million to the families of the deceased.

The cabinet approved the inclusion of the permanent membership of Secretary Relief, Rehabilitation and Resettlement to the Provincial Development Working Party.

On the recommendation of the scrutiny committee, Attaullah, the owner of a private petrol pump belonging to the Waziristan region, was approved for compensation.

The cabinet approved Rs348.126 million as bridge financing monthly sustenance and food ration allowance to the internally displaced persons of North Waziristan. It approved the transfer of additional seven kanals of land of the communication and works department to the Balakot TMA office.

For the promotion of tourism in Kurram district, approval was given to transfer more than 25 kanals of government land to the department of tourism.

The cabinet approved Rs202.28 million compensation for the sacked employees of the Pakistan Tourism Development Cooperation as well as the establishment of a surplus pool for 85 employees of the Directorate of Tourist Services.

It also okayed an amendment to the KP Directorate of Human Rights Procedure Rules, 2015, to upgrade the directorate to the directorate-general and the post of the director to the director-general’s.
