5 held in smuggling bid

RAWALPINDI, Feb 1: The customs’ anti-smuggling staff have arrested five persons for trying to smuggle 1,870gms of heroin to Canada. Following an information that an attempt would be made to smuggle narcotics, Collector Customs Ahmed Dildar constituted a team comprising Deputy Superintendent Customs Sohail Qureshi and Malik Sarfraz who confiscated two leather jackets and a photo album booked by a courier agent for Canada.

On checking the jackets and album, the customs staff found 1,870gms of heroin concealed in the goods. The customs authorities said five persons, two of whom were employees of the courier service, were arrested.
