LAHORE: Former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry on Monday furnished bail bonds before an anti-terrorism court for the pre-arrest bail granted to him in two cases of the May 9 riots.

Last week, the court had granted him bail till Aug 8 in two cases registered with Model Town police about an attack on the party office of the PML-N during the May 9 protests.

The court had ordered him to furnish bail bonds of Rs100,000 in each case.

Mr Chaudhry, who quit the PTI after the May 9 incidents, did not respond to the reporters when asked for his opinion on the conviction of former prime minister Imran Khan. However, he said the general election was not in sight and both the PPP and the PML-N did not want an election in the country.

Separately, an anti-terrorism court on Monday extended the judicial remand of PTI-Punjab president Dr Yasmin Rashid, former governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema, Senator Ejaz Chaudhry, former provincial minister Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed and others in the May 9-related cases.

The police presented the PTI leaders before the court after bringing them from jail. The police also presented fashion designer Khadija Shah, Sanam Javed and other women workers of the PTI before the court.

The court extended the judicial remand of the suspects till Aug 21 with a direction to the police to submit challan of the cases.
