WATER SUPPLY

WATER SUPPLY: Disruption in water supply has become a common issue for one and all in Karachi. The Keamari district appears to be one of the oldest victims on this count. The district has been suffering from a severe water shortage for over a decade now. Despite having a relevant body to ensure every home in the city has a proper water supply, is it not a shame the households are forced to buy water? The local authorities in the area are too inefficient to solve the issue. Access to potable water is a human right that should be ensured at all costs.

GARBAGE DUMPS: Open drains and garbage dumps are some of the biggest problems of Keamari district of Karachi. People throw garbage randomly all over the area. There is hardly any empty space left in Keamari. People do not care about hygiene and health issues. These garbage dumps give rise to many harmful diseases. The residents are suffering from viral flu and pneumonia from the last several months. Most of the streets are flooded with overflowing sewage and trash. There are no trash cans available in the area, especially in the lanes and streets. Keamari most certainly needs serious attention. The provincial government should look into the matter and take appropriate steps to make the area clean and beautiful.

GAS SHORTAGE: The shortage of natural gas in Pakistan has been a major issue for many years due to lack of investment in the sector. The government has failed to upgrade the existing infrastructure and build new pipelines. The shortage of gas has had a major impact on the economy. It has caused an increase in the prices of commodities whose production is dependent on gas supply. Moreover, the shortage has also increased the cost of living, and decreased the production of electricity. The government needs to take immediate steps to address the critical issue.
