Protest against water shortage

JACOBABAD, Feb 1: Farmers took out a procession on Wednesday in protest against shortage of water in Naseer branch, Garhi Hassan branch, Hamzo Khoso branch and Bahadurpar small canal of the Thul taluka.

The procession started from Joogal Mor and after marching through various roads reached the Thul press club.

Protesters were led by Ashfaq Ahmed Khoso, Rahmatullah Khoso and Saifuddin Samejo.

The farmers alleged that water was being supplied to influential landlords.

They said irrigation officials were paying a deaf ear to their complaints.

They threatened to launch a drive of protests if their demands were not met.

COURT: A meeting was held at the sessions court building here on Tuesday for discussing ways and means for early disposal of cases.

The meeting was presided over by district and sessions judge Mushtaq Ahmed Kalwar and attended by SP investigation Abdul Qayoom Pitafi, health EDO Dr Ghulam Mohammad Channa and jail superintendent Altaf Ahmed.
