QUETTA: Balochistan Food Authority (BFA) deputy director and nephew of former chief minister Nawab Aslam Raisani, Nawabzada Haroon Raisani, was among three people killed in the Sariab area late on Wednesday night, officials said.

The other deceased were later identified as Brahamdagh Lehri, son of transporter Imdad Lehri, and Mr Raisani’s security guard, the police added.

Initial investigation revealed that the food official during a visit to the Sada Bahar bus terminal area fined a shop selling Paan Parag and other items when Brahamdagh Lehri reached there and got engaged in an altercation, police said. In an ensuing exchange of fire, Haroon along with his guard and Brahamdagh were killed while two others sustained injuries.

Later, law enforcement agencies reached the spot and shifted the bodies and injured to civil hospital and CMH, Quetta. Police and FC personnel were deployed in the area to avert further clashes between the rival groups.

Police said they had collected CCTV footage to ascertain facts.

BFA DG Naeem Bazari confirmed the death of the ex-CM’s nephew, saying Haroon Raisani was on duty when he and his guard were killed. “It is a matter of interference in official duties,” he said.
