LAKKI MARWAT: A jirga of Nurar tribe has formed a committee to resolve problems of people and launch joint efforts with government authorities to improve law and order and eradicate the menace of narcotics.

The committee was formed at a meeting of the jirga held in the hujra of councillor Malak Hazrat Ali Khan here on Monday.

The elders of 12 clans of the tribe including Miryan tehsil council chairman Pir Kamal Shah, Malak Irfanullah Khan, Pir Wajid Ali Shah, Dr Safiullah, Dar Ali, MaulanaAjab Noor, Malak Mir Qadir, Maulana Tahir Mir, Saifullah Khan, Malak Aurangzeb, Sahad Ali Shah, Malak Idrees and Malik Khaliq Dad Khan attended the meeting.

The elders said that their area had been neglected in the past as successive governments failed to execute any uplift scheme there. They said that locals were faced with numerous problems. They said that they would cooperate with government to maintain peace in the area and eliminate the menace of narcotics.

MARTYRS: Police officials participated in different events to pay homage to their fallen colleagues and observe martyrs week.

They visited graveyards and houses of martyr policemen in Bannu. They laid wreaths on the graves of their fallen colleagues, hoisted national flags and offered fateha for them.

Officials also met the relatives of deceased policemen and assured them that the department would not leave them alone.

CONDEMN: Bannu Bachao Tehreek, a rights body, has condemned bombing at a meeting of JUI-F in Bajur district and asked the government to take measures to prevent such tragedies in future.

Talking to journalists after a meeting in Bannu on Monday, the Tehreek’s head Pir Syed Qaisar Abbas Shah said that the terror incident saddened the entire nation. He expressed his grief over the loss of precious human lives in the incident and said that the entire nation should stand beside the law enforcement agencies to defeat terrorism.

Flanked by other office-bearers of the organisation, he said that the people of militancy-hit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa could not afford more incidents of terrorism.
