NAWABSHAH, Jan 30: Former Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali has said that provinces were not getting rights that are mentioned in the constitution of Pakistan. He was addressing lawyers at the Nawabshah District Bar Association.
The former prime minister said that situation would not be like today had the provinces given rights.
He said the 1973 constitution was not passed unanimously as two members from Balochistan did not sign it.
He said Balochistan was the youngest province since it had been given the status of a province in 1970.
Stressing the need of water reservoirs, he said reservoirs were always necessary for a country as they helped in storage of water.
Mr Jamali said corridors of Islamabad were not faithful to anyone and they had witnessed many governments.
He said lawyers were important pillars of any country.
The former prime minister said Sindh was proud of lawyers like Abdul Sattar Pirzada and A. K. Brohi.
He stressed upon the need of education and said that children, especially girls, should be provided education.
Earlier, Rahim Bux Jamali, the president of the Nawabshah District Bar Association, welcomed the guest and presented him a Sindhi cap.
SECTION 144: The Nawabshah district nazim under the section 144 has prohibited assembly of five or more persons at one place, except for religious meetings, gatherings or Majalis, during the month of Muharram.
The nazim has imposed the ban on objectionable speeches, slogans, playing of cassettes of Ulema whose entry had been banned in the district, use of crackers, loudspeakers except for Azan and display of arms.
The order would not apply on marriage processions and members of armed forces performing official duties.
The order would come into force from Muharram 1 till Muharram 12.
