MARDAN: The residents of Mayar and Akbarpura here on Monday welcomed the order of Peshawar High Court regarding re-inclusion of the areas in Mardan tehsil.

Mardan city mayor Himayatullah Mayar had filed a writ petition in PHC against exclusion of the areas from Mardan tehsil by the previous government. He said that an unjust decision was made by the previous provincial government of PTI to include Mayar union council and village Akbarpura in 16-kilometre away Garikapura tehsil.

He said that the decision of the previous government created many difficulties to the residents of the areas. He claimed that Mayar union council was located adjacent to Mardan tehsil.

He said that PHC set aside the impugned notification about inclusion of Mayar and Akbarpura in Garikapura tehsil. He said that the matter was sent to the relevant authorities to take necessary steps to include the areas in Mardan tehsil.

Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority recovered 35 bags of banned China salt from a shop at Khwaja Gunj Bazaar Chowk in Mardan.

The food authority officials said that China salt was being supplied to different restaurants and grocery shops of Mardan from the shop. As many as 35 bags of China salt weighing 870 kilograms were recovered from the shop.

The sale of China salt was banned by Supreme Court of Pakistan due to its hazardous effects on human health. The deputy director of food authority, Kamran Khan, said that last week 135 bags of China salt weighing about 3,400 kilograms were seized in an operation at Toru Chowk.

He said during the last three months, about six units producing counterfeited cold drinks of multinational brands and adulterated gur were sealed. He said that the authority wanted to provide clean and hygienic food to people. He added that no one would be allowed to play with the health of people.
