TAXILA: There is no respite from street crime in various parts of Taxila and Hazro as criminals continue depriving citizens of cash and valuables and the police seem helpless in taking action against them.

Robbers shot and injured a man over resisting robbery in a house in Hassan Colony area in the limits of Taxila police station.

Police while quoting the family members said three armed men entered the house located in a highly guarded cantonment area and took hostage the family members.

As they were snatching jewellery from a woman, her son identified as Noman resisted and as a result the masked men shot and injured him critically. The armed men managed to escape from the scene with the looted valuables.

The injured was shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital from where he was referred to Rawalpindi due to his critical condition.

A medicine supply salesman was deprived of over Rs60,000 in a broad daylight on Museum Road in the same police station limits.

In another incident in the same police station limits, two robbers entered a pharmacy located on Taxila-Hattar Road near Fatima Town and deprived the shopkeeper, customers and staff of millions of rupees.

Three armed men snatched Rs800,000 from Mohamamd Naveed on G.T. Road near Chachi mohallah in the limits of Wah Saddar police station.

In Hazro, three armed bandits snatched Rs1.25 million at gun point from the cashier of a filling station near Shamshabad.

A trader was robbed of Rs700,000 in a robbery incident at Bhabpti Chowk in the same police station. The trader was waiting for a vehicle to visit a cattle market to purchase cattle when three armed men intercepted him.

Another trader identified as Niamat Khan was looted at gunpoint on Dhakki Road.
