BANGKOK: Pakistan’s sprinter Shajar Abbas failed to make it to the 100 meters final of the ongoing Asian Athletics Championship on Friday.

Shajar clocked 10.45 seconds but that wasn’t enough for him to qualify for the medals race as he finished fourth.

On Thursday, the 23-year-old had broken the national record — which is his personal best as well in the heats, clocking 10.37 seconds to register his name for the semis. He was 9th among 40 athletes who took part in various heats.

Apart from Abbas, the Pakistan team in the event comprises javelin thrower Mohammad Yasir Sultan and sprinters Abdul Moeed and Esha Imran.
