LAHORE: Police claimed on Monday to have arrested five suspects involved in kidnapping a managing director of a business company from Cantonment and also recovered the ransom from the captors.

Company’s MD Bilal Hashmat and his driver Abdul Rehman were allegedly kidnapped from their office on Davies Road on June 5.

According to the first information report, the suspects had called the wife of the MD and said that they had kidnapped her husband and driver and took them to Peshawar. The kidnappers had demanded Rs50 million ransom for his release.

Civil Lines police registered the kidnapping case against unidentified persons and started the investigation.

Meanwhile, the family had paid Rs20m as ransom and he was released after two days.

DIG investigation Imran Kishwar constituted a Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) police team to arrest the suspects involved in kidnapping the MD.

He said it was revealed during investigation that the driver of the MD along with his four accomplices was involved in the kidnapping case.

He said the police teams conducted raids in different areas of the country and arrested all the five suspects involved in the case and also recovered Rs18.5m from the kidnappers.
