SARGODHA: Tahir Mahmood, activist of a defunct outfit involved in terrorism, was sentenced by Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Nadeem Tahir Syed to a collective imprisonment of 30-years, along with the confiscation of his property and a fine of Rs100,000.

The prosecution stated that Mahmood was arrested by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) at Haiderabad Town (Sargodha) on March 27. The CTD recovered explosive material, a detonator, a safety fuse and a pistol from him.

The judge sentenced Mahmood to 14-year imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs50,000 under section 5 of the Explosive Substance Act. Also, he was sentenced to two-year imprisonment under section 13/20/65 of the Arms Ordinance, along with a fine of Rs50,000. Moreover, he received a sentence of 14-year imprisonment and the confiscation of his property under section 7-ff of the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Furthermore, his property was confiscated twice under section 5 of the Explosive Substance Act.
