RAHIM YAR KHAN: On public complaints, Deputy Commissioner Shakeel Ahmed Bhatti visited the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) centre at the Government Pilot Secondary School and handed over six retailers to police who were involved in deduction of support amount meant for the needy women.

The DC also ordered the police to register a first information report (FIR) against them.

Sadiqabad Assistant Commissioner Hammad Hamid also checked two BISP centres at Bhong and Ahmedpur Lama where he confiscated the devices of two retailers and ordered registration of FIRs against them. These retailers were deducting the money from actual support amount.

Officials of the Habib Bank Connect and BISP were present at all these centers where the wrong was go9ng on.

Extortion in the presence of officials

The DC also took the notice of non-availability of basic facilities at the Pilot school where beneficiary women were standing under the sun and there was no cold drinking water.

Bhatti asked CEO DEA Muhammad Aslam Ijaz to immediately make necessary arrangements in all schools of four tehsils. He also ordered the HBL Connect officials to ensure the availability of required devices to retailers otherwise retailers would not be allowed to work.

REMOVED: The services of Deputy District Education Officer (female) Azra Nasreen were surrendered to the School Education Department.

RYK Deputy Commissioner (DC) who is also chairman and administrator of District Education Authority (DEA), has issued the notification for Azra Nasreen’s surrender.According to official handout, Nasreen had recruited class -4 employees in year 2022-2023 over and above the advertised seats.

At that time, the DEA CEO was Kastora Jee Shaad who was also chairman of the recruitment committee. Nasreen was serving in Sadiqabad tehsil as DDEO beside looking after the additional responsibilities of DDEO in Liaqatpur.

DC Shakeel Ahmed Bhatti and CEO DEA Muhammad Aslam Ijaz recommended proceedings against her under the Peeda Act.
