PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa caretaker minister for information Feroze Jamal Shah Kakakhel on Friday said 33 cases about the May 9-10 violent protests were sent to military courts.

“Over 3,000 people have been arrested over involvement in the May 9-10 riots, while 33 cases have been sent to military courts for decision,” the minister told a presser here.

He said that the May 9-10 violence was the “end product of the project Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf” launched by former ISI chief Lt Gen Faiz Hameed.

Mr Kakakhel alleged that the PTI leadership destroyed an entire generation with last month’s riots being a consequence of its policies.

He said that campaigns were carried out on social media against the institutions of national security by certain elements.

The minister said that YouTuber retired Major Adil Raja was an Indian agent and was involved in anti-state activities.

“Raja is paid by Indian businessmen. He was the right hand of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan,” he said.

Mr Kakakhel said that the PTI leadership should publicly disown Raja if it had no connection with him.

He said the two former chief ministers of KP should openly distance themselves from that social media influencer.

The minister said that intelligence agencies were the country’s assets and the people condemned those attacking them on social media.

He said that the caretaker government in the province would present the next fiscal’s budget on June 20.

Mr Kakakhel claimed that the last PTI government left the province with Rs32 billion debt.

He said that his government was restarting the Hayatabad Medical Complex development project after a delay of 20 years with the financial assistance from the federal government.

The minister said that the recent torrential rains killed 17 people in Bannu district and four each in Lakki Marwat and Dera Ismail Khan districts.

He said that legal heirs of the deceased had been compensated by authorities.

Mr Kakakhel said that four teams were carrying out surveys in the province to assess the damage caused by the recent heavy rains, hailstorm and strong winds.
