LAHORE: Pakistan’s contingent for the upcoming Asian Athletics Championship in Bangkok, scheduled to take place from July 12 to 16, has been finalised with the selection of five athletes. The selection process invo­lved conducting one-day trials at the Punjab Stadi­um here on Sunday.

The Athletics Feder­ation of Pakistan anno­unced the names of the chosen athletes in a press release.

Among them are renowned Olympian Arshad Nadeem and Yasir Sultan, who will represent the country in the Javelin throw event.

Additionally, sprinter Shajar Abbas has been selected to compete in both the 100m and 200m races.

Abdul Mueed will showcase his skills in the 200m and 400m races while Esha Imran

will represent Pakistan in the women’s division, participating in the 100m, 200m, and 400m competitions.

The selection process was highly competitive, with a total of 60 athletes from various regions

of Pakistan participating in the Open National Trials.
