LOWER DIR: Former Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf lawmakers Malik Shafiullah Khan, Malik Liaquat Ali and Azam Khan along with dozens of party workers were released from the Timergara district jail here on Thursday after an anti-terrorism court accepted their bail application.

The ex-legislators later told reporters that they would quit neither the PTI nor its chief Imran Khan.

“I was with Imran Khan and will continue to be with him,” Mr Shafiullah said.

Until now, 111 out of 121 detained PTI leaders and workers were released from the jail. Some key PTI activists have already gone into hiding to escape arrest over the May 9-10 violent protests following the detention of party chairman Imran Khan.

They say won’t quit party

SUSPENDED: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Malakand, on Thursday suspended all invigilators of the intermediate exam along with the superintendent of a woman’s examination hall at a private college in Kumbar Maidan area over the leak of the paper.

It appointed new invigilators and superintendent for the remaining exam to be held in a new hall.

The action came after a board team comprising women officers and monitoring unit’s members made a surprise visit to the hall and learned about the paper’s leak.

BISE controller (examination) Mohammad Naseem Khan said a separate committee would probe the matter and strict action would be taken if any staff member was found to be involved in the paper’s leak.

Meanwhile, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl district chief Ameer Sirajuddin on Thursday asked lawyers to play their due role in providing affordable and speedy justice to the people.

He was addressing a party dinner hosted for members of the Jamiat Lawyers’ Forum in Balambat area here as the chief guest.

STRIKE: Employees of government departments on Thursday observed a complete pen-down strike on the call of the All Government Employees Grand Alliance, Lower Dir.

They along with their leaders later left for Islamabad to participate in a demonstration planned for their rights.

The protesters demanded of the government to increase their salaries by 200 per cent amid record inflation and avoid the abolition of the pension scheme.
