Umar, Faisal in 3rd Test squad

FAISALABAD, Jan 25: The national cricket selectors on Wednesday recalled batsman Faisal Iqbal and pace bowler Umar Gul while announcing an expanded 16-man squad for the third and final Test, which starts in Karachi from Sunday. As expected Shoaib Malik, who played in the first two Tests, was not considered for the series decider following the sad demise of his father early on Wednesday.

The inclusion of Umar was widely tipped because of a ‘lively’ pitch being prepared for the Karachi Test.

The 21-year-old figured in the last of five Tests, against India at Lahore in 2004.

Faisal has been included as a cover for the injured Pakistan captain Inzamamul Haq. He has not played in a Test since Cape Town in 2002-03.

Squad: Inzamamul Haq (captain), Younis Khan (vice-captain), Salman Butt, Kamran Akmal, Mohammad Yousuf, Shahid Afridi, Abdul Razzaq, Shoaib Akhtar, Rana Navedul Hasan, Mohammad Sami, Danish Kaneria, Mohammad Asif, Imran Farhat, Arshad Khan, Faisal Iqbal, Umar Gul.
