LAHORE: Gujjarpura police arrested a man for kidnapping and later killing his six-year-old grandson.

Ghulam Mustafa, 6, son of Tanvir Ahmed of Bhogiwal Chowk, went missing from Model China Bazaar on March 16.

Police registered a kidnapping case on the complaint of his father and later his body was found near a drain at China Scheme.

Tanvir had alleged that his father Nazir Ahmed had kidnapped his son to force him to divorce his wife as he wanted to marry his daughter-in-law..

He said his father had killed his son and thrown his body in a drain.

Civil Lines SP investigation Ahmad Zunair Cheema said a police team had arrested Nazir Ahmed for allegedly killing his grandson.

He said the suspect was forcing his son to divorce his wife as he wanted to marry his daughter-in-law. He said the police team used the latest technology to arrest the suspect.

In another case, investigation police claimed on Saturday to have arrested a woman, her brother and two shooters for killing her husband in Badami Bagh.

Ahsan of Badami Bagh was sitting at a bench outside Umar Farooq Mosque near Malik Park when two unidentified motorcyclists shot him dead on April 19.

Police registered a murder case on the complaint of his brother Ghulam Hussain and started investigation.

City Division Superintendent of Police (SP) Investigation Dr Raza Tanvir told media police had arrested two shooters involved in killing Ahsan.

He said the shooters confessed to their crime and said the deceased’s wife and her brother had paid them money to kill her husband.
