TOBA TEK SINGH: A Faisalabad CIA police team on Saturday extradited three suspects from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Faisalabad CPO Usman Akram Gondal told the media that two of them -- Zeeshan and Usman -- had allegedly raped a child after kidnapping him at Chak Jhumra five years back while another suspect Saqlain had also kidnapped a minor boy from Sahianwala some two years ago.

He said the suspects were detected through modern technology and when their locations were confirmed, the UAE government was requested to help Faisalabad CIA police nab them for which red warrants were issued by the interior ministry.

He said the team returned Pakistan on Saturday and handed the suspects over to respective police stations for investigation and to submit challans of cases against them to courts.

VISIT: Punjab Local Government Secretary Dr Irshad Ahmed on Saturday visited Gojra to review the pace of work on Punjab Cities Programme (PCP) where the municipal committee officials briefed him about the implementation of the project.

The secretary directed the local government officials to monitor the construction process and ensure completion of all schemes according to schedule.

He said the programme is in progress in 16 tehsils of Punjab and funds worth billions of rupees were being spent on the construction and repair of roads and purchase of machinery for improving municipal services. He said work was under way on five projects in Gojra while two more schemes would soon be started.

He said the PCP would change the condition of 16 small cities of Punjab because through it, water supply, sewerage, waste management, construction of roads and parks and supply of streetlights would be improved.
