13 injured in fireworks explosion

LAHORE, Jan 24: At least 13 labourers were injured, five of them critically, in a fireworks explosion in Imamia Colony, Shahdara, on Tuesday. Police said Majid had set up a fireworks manufacturing unit in a house. Some 13 labourers were at work when the explosive material caught fire and exploded with a bang. The house caught fire and collapsed. Neighbours and the police launched a rescue work.

All labourers sustained injuries and were rushed to a local hospital from where eight of them were discharged after first aid. The other five were shifted to the Mayo Hospital due to their critical condition.

No case has so far been registered.
