ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is set to gift PNS Tariq, the historic lead ship of the surface command of the Pakistan Navy, to Britain as a goodwill gesture.

The ship would be handed over to Britain later this year, in July or August, and will be moored in Glasgow, Scotland on the River Clyde as a museum piece.

Britain previously requested one Amazon or Tariq-Class Type 21 Fighter Ship from Pakistan. Before joining the Pakistan Navy, the ship served in the Royal Navy and it was designated ‘HMS Ambuscade’ in 1975. Amazon-class frigates took part in the Falklands War between Britain and Argentina in 1982.
