Former PTI MNA Raja Khurram Nawaz, along with other leaders from the Rawalpindi district, has announced that he is leaving the PTI following the events of May 9.

Addressing the media in Islamabad today, he said, “All my companions and I, all the [party] position holders, we resign from those positions.”

Noting that he was a member of the PTI’s Central Executive Committee, Nawaz said he and other leaders had made the decision after consulting amongst themselves. He added they were “resigning from politics for now” and would decide the next plan of action after consulting their supporters.

Nawaz further said that the ones responsible for the violent incidents should be punished but those who were innocent and detained in jails should be released.
