ISLAMABAD, Jan 23: PIA set PTCL a stiff target of 379 for victory on the third day of the Patron’s Trophy Grade I quadrangular match at the KRL Stadium.

PTCL were three runs without loss when play ended after PIA had earlier declared their second innings closed at 231-4 in which Ghulam Ali stroked 78 and Faisal Iqbal remained unbeaten on 56.

Resuming their first innings at the overnight score of 147-6, PTCL just managed to squeeze past the follow-on mark of 219 and were dismissed for 222 in 62.5 overs.

PIA had hit up 369 in their first innings and gained a lead of 147 runs.

Shahzad Malik topscored with 89 for PTCL who were restricted by Fazle Akbar who took 5-62. Najaf Shah and Kamran Sajid picked up two wickets each.

Tuesday is the last day of the match.
