Ambassador to Norway posted in Vienna

ISLAMABAD, Jan 23: The government on Monday announced the appointment of M. Shahbaz as ambassador of Pakistan to Austria. He is presently serving as Pakistan’s ambassador to Norway.

According to Foreign Office, Mr Shahbaz, who was born on Aug 28, 1948, holds BA and LLB degrees.

He joined Foreign Services of Pakistan in Aug 1974 and held various diplomatic assignments in Pakistani missions in Mexico (1975-78), Budapest (1987-89) and Geneva (1989-93).

He remained on deputation to OPCW, The Hague (1993-97).

He also served at the headquarters in Islamabad as section officer (1974-75 and 1979-86), director (1986-1997) and director-general (1997-2001).—APP
