Reports have indicated that access to social media platforms is once again restricted across the country despite the government’s announcement of removing the restrictions.

Internet connectivity watchdog Downdetector showed a spike since earlier this morning in outage reports while accessing Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

A map on the website showed that the outage reports for Twitter were concentrated in major cities of Pakistan, including Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Peshawar.

Some Twitter users also complained they were unable to connect to these platforms without using a Virtual Private Network.
