Goal blitz by Godara

LAHORE, Jan 20: Seven goals by Dhruvpal Godara, including a hat trick enabled Guard Filters to inflict a 9-8 defeat on CCL in the R G Hyder Polo tournament on Friday.

The losers, who had a two- goal handicap led the first chukker 3-1. Sufi Muhammad Haris, drew first blood for CCL while Godara, an Indian, struck his first, scoring a field goal after a long chase.

In the second chukker Guard Filters caught CCL twice but at the end the latter came out with a slender 5-4 lead.

Godara struck back-to-back goals, converting 40-yard penalties to equalize the score 3-3. But Ashfaq chipped in with a field goal as CCL went ahead 4-3.

Syed Muhammad Raza again equalized to make it 4-4 for the winners scoring a field goal off a pass from Taimur Malik, before Abdul Rehman again put CCL ahead by scoring a field goal.

Guard Filters dominated the third chukker to take 7-6 lead for the first time, scoring three goals in a row against one they conceded. Godara scored two while Taimur Ali Malik a goal. For the losers, Haris scored his second goal.

In the fourth chukker Godara and Haris scored two goals each for their teams to complete the scoring.
