KOHAT: Two children were killed and 18 others were injured in separate road accidents here on Tuesday, rescue officials said.

Two children were killed and three men were injured when an over-speeding car with a family on board hit a roadside tree on Dhoda Road on Tuesday, a rescue official said.

He said by the time a rescue team reached the scene, local volunteers had already shifted the deceased and the injured to the KDA Teaching Hospital.

The hospital sources said the deceased were identified as Irfan, 9, and Mohammad Wahab, 7, and the injured as Shehzad, Omis, and Sajid. Shehzad was later referred to a Peshawar hospital in critical condition.

Separately, 15 passengers, including a woman, were injured seriously when a Parachinar-bound coach fell from a bridge in Alizai area of Kohat on Tuesday.

Rescue 1122 officials said the local people retrieved the injured and shifted them to the KDA and Liaquat Memorial hospitals.

They said the accident occurred when tyre rod of the vehicle broke.

The injured were all from Parachinar.

SEALED: The district administration on Tuesday sealed a samosa and roll patti-making factory on Janana Mills Road for unhygienic conditions, and arrested its owner.

The action was taken by additional assistant commissioner Saad Munir.

Meanwhile, Kohat deputy commissioner Dr Azmatullah Wazir on Tuesday imposed Section 144 for one month, banning sale of toy guns, display of weapons, firing in the air, swimming, boating in dams, rivers, and one-wheeling.

A statement issued here said that sufficient grounds existed that warranted taking immediate preventive measures under Section 144 CrPC to ensure better law and order in the district in the best interest of people.

The ban was imposed to ensure peaceful passage of Eidul Fitr days. Violation of the order will be punishable under section 188 of PPC.
