GUJRANWALA, Jan 18: Residents of Ghakkhar and Qila Dedar Singh towns have expressed their resentment over the issuance of final property tax notices despite an announcement of exemption by the Punjab chief minister during his visit some two months ago.

They demanded withdrawal of the notices issued by the excise and taxation department.

Some dwellers said here on Wednesday that the Punjab chief minister had exempted Ghakkhar and Qila Dedar Singh towns from property tax during his public meeting in connection with PP-97 by-election.

On the other hand, the excise officials said that the government had not issued any notification in this regard.

They asked MPA elect Chaudhry Nasir Cheema to get implemented the orders of the chief minister regarding property tax exemption.

CHURCH MODERATOR: US Presbyterian Church Moderator Eller Rick Ufford-Chase is due in the city on Thursday (today) where he will attend a seminar.

This was stated by church executive secretary Sharif Alam in a press release issued here on Wednesday.
