KHAIRPUR, Jan 17: Former District Nazim Nafisa Shah has welcomed statements of intellectuals and poets for opposing the Kalabagh dam. Speaking to newsmen here on Tuesday, she said intellectuals could say such things about political conditions of the country which generally could not be expressed by political leaders.

She said intellectuals should practically take part in political struggle to strengthen unity among provinces. She lauded role of Shaikh Ayaz and other Sindhi intellectuals during 60s.

She said that viewpoint of renowned poets of Punjab and the NWFP like Ahmed Faraz, Abid Hassan Minto and others had great importance.

URS: A three-day Urs of Sufi poet Fakir Khush Kher Mohammad Hisbani started in Faiz Ganj taluka on Tuesday.
