KARACHI: Either of the stable-mates colt Geo Baba or mare Princess Maria may dominate the April Cup when it takes place in the Gymkhana race meeting here at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

If one goes by recent performances, Geo Baba appears fancied but if backed by connection, Princess Maria may pull off an upset in the cup race which is classified under combined scale order I, II, III and IV and will go over four-and-a-half furlongs.

Dark bay horse Robert may secure second place among the seven starters barring last-minute withdrawal(s).

A small four-race card which envisages fewer horses has been drawn for the day’s races.

At the outset, bay horse Geo Ahsan is expected to overcome victory jinx by winning honours in the opening race under scale order VIII being run over four furlongs.

It is pertinent to mention that Geo Ahsan had to be content with second place in his last two outings.

Mare Baby Champion looks smart among seven acceptors to occupy the next place on board. However, if on job, bay horse Mastana may create quite a stir.

With a win under his belt, bay horse Golden Chance looks poised for a repeat performance in the second race being run over four furlongs under the same scale order VIII.

Bay horse Faisal King may follow the footsteps of Golden Chance in a field of half-a-dozen horses.

Mare Zahrish is on chance to make amends by winning the third and supporting race under scale order VI and VIII being run over four furlongs. The race has seven acceptors.

Bay horse My Boy appears strong for occupying the next place on board.

Mare Sweet Golden may topple the fancied horses if backed by connection.

The first race starts at 12noon.
