DERA MURAD JAMALI: An officer of the Levies Force was injured in a motorbike blast in Kachhi district on Wednesday, officials said.

An improvised explosive device (IED) planted in a motorcycle was detonated by a remote-control device in the Dhadar town of Kachhi district.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack.

The officials said Abdul Malik, officer in charge of Levies police station, Mach, was passing through the area at the time of explosion. He sustained injuries and his vehicle badly damaged, while windowpanes of some nearby shops and buildings were also shattered.

Police rushed to the site soon after receiving the information and shifted the officer to the district hospital.

“Unknown people used an improvised explosive device planted in a motorbike and it was detonated with a remote control device,” SSP Kachhi Mehmood Khan Notezai later confirmed to Dawn.

Police have launched a search operation in the area after the explosion.
