TOBA TEK SINGH: A woman was injured after she fell down in the rush at a free flour centre set up at a banquet hall on the Canal Road of Toba Tek Singh on Monday.
Rescue 1122 ambulance shifted her to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital. She was identified as Zubaida Bibi (60), the wife of Asghar Ali.
On the other hand, scores of women and men staged a protest demonstration at Mamukanjan in Tandlianwala tehsil of Faisalabad over non-supply of free flour at a distribution centre. They closed the railway level crossing near Chungi No 5.
Speaking to the reporters, they said the flour distribution centre had been approved by the district administration for their area but it had not been supplied with flour due to unknown reasons.
Protests held against non-supply for free flour
Later, the police officers held talks with the protesters and assured them that higher authorities at Faisalabad would be apprised of their issue. At this, the protesters ended the demonstration.
A similar protest was held at Nawan Lahore locality of Toba Tek Singh where the people staged a protest against closure of free flour distribution centre. They demanded restoration of the centre.
ACCIDENTS: A minor boy died after a train hit him at Gojra.
Rescue 1122 report said deceased Haider Ali (11) and his father Tahir Ali were on their way to Nadeem Park locality of Gojra along a rail track when suddenly Karakoram Express arrived and the child was hit by it. As a result, he was pushed towards a pole, collided with it and died. His father remained unhurt.
Meanwhile, two persons were injured as a result of a collision between a truck and a mini-truck on the Rajana-Kamalia road. Rescue 1122 identified the wounded as the mini-truck’s driver Ali Hasan (27) and his helper Ghulam Mutaza (36), residents of Hasilpur. They were admitted to Kamalia Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.
ARRESTED: Faisalabad Kotwali DSP Ihsanullah Shad claims to have arrested three robbers who had robbed a shop in the Press Market in Faisalabad on Feb 2 and took away Rs3.3m from the printing press of one Shafaaqat Ali.
The suspects were identified as Muhammad Waseem, Shahbaz Ahmad and Shahzad Ali.
Addressing a press conference, the DSP disclosed that another printing press owner of same market, Shabbir Ahmad, was the facilitator of the robbers and he took his share of Rs1.5m from the robbers who had also been arrested.
