KARACHI, Jan 16: The chairperson of Pakistan Peoples Party-SB, Ghinwa Bhutto, on Monday said that the problems of the people at grass roots level must be solved through political means.

She said that there was a need for bridging the gap between the state and its people, which could only be done by removing grievances of the general public.

Ms Bhutto stated this, while speaking at a protest demonstration against the unjust treatment meted out to the slum dwellers, held here outside the City Nazim Secretariat

Blaming bureaucracy as the main cause behind civic problems, she said that political forces should not look up to the bureaucrats for timely gains but rather try to win over public by trying to improve their living conditions.

Her party wanted to strive for rights of the people by working with the masses and this was not part of any agenda to acquire power, she said and regretted that no elected representative visited them.

Other party leaders were also present.—PPI
